This Henna Semi Permanent color is both USDA Organic and ECOCERT certified and comes in a wide variety of shades. Perfect for covering greys, darkening by a shade or 2 and brightening up a naturally light brown or blonde color. There is nothing but good for your hair ingredients in here.

Schwarzkopf Simply Color

While this line has small amounts of Ethanolamine & Resorcinol, it is the only permanent hair color line that contains zero extreme skin sensitizers like PPD/PDT/NPPPD. If I was choosing a true permanent dye, I would personally choose this one.

Other Clean-er Options:

Please note, there are no “clean” permanent hair dye. The ingredients required to develop permanent hair color are inherently toxic & many also contain fragrance, PEGs, Parabens, etc.. The following are a list of those that I personally find to be “cleaner” options based on my own standards. Using “off the scalp'“ techniques like foiling & balayage can reduce your risk because it doesn’t touch your scalp.

  • Daniel Field Water Colour (the cleanest option, but only works well on shades close to your own color and w/ 50% or less grey)

  • Madison Reed (No PPD or Resorcinol, but uses Ethanolamine)

  • Clairol Nice ‘N Easy (No PPD & uses Ammonia)

  • All Nutrient Permanent Cream Hair Color (found only in Salons)

  • Wella Koleston Perfect Me+ (found in Salons)
